Former DSP Nishit Ranjan Laskar Passes Away

Relatives, friends, and well-wishers have expressed profound grief over the loss

Silchar: Retired Deputy Superintendent of Police Nishit Ranjan Laskar, a resident of Shyamaprasad Road in Silchar, passed away on November 9 at the age of 85.

Laskar breathed his last around 5:30 p.m. at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. He had been admitted to the ICU earlier in the day after suffering a cardiac arrest but could not be revived despite medical efforts.

He is survived by his son, journalist Aniruddha Laskar of Eastern Chronicle and News18, his daughter Dolanchapa Bhattacharjee, wife of orthopaedic specialist Dr. Ankur Bhattacharjee, along with grandchildren, relatives, and a host of admirers.

The late Laskar was the son of noted educationist and politician Nibaran Chandra Laskar. His demise has been widely mourned across Silchar. Relatives, friends, and well-wishers have expressed profound grief over the loss. It is worth mentioning that his wife, Aparna Laskar, had passed away only a few months ago.
