Silchar: Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for the improvement of Deshbandhu Road up to Swashan Road. The project, taken up under the Mukhyamantrir Nagarik PakhiPaht Nirman Aachani (MMNPNA) for the year 2023–24, includes the construction of RCC retaining walls and replacement of ICBT.

The road improvement work, covering a length of 0.522 km, falls under Package No. MMNPNA_23_24_11 with a sanctioned contract value of Rs 36.92 lakh. Officials said the project will significantly boost local infrastructure and benefit residents of Deshbandhu Road, Swashan Road, and adjoining areas.
The programme was attended by Mitra Roy, President of Mahila Morcha; Hirok Choudhury, Mandal President; senior party workers Romapada Bhatt and Dulal Chakraborty; Sahabuddin Barbhuiya, Assistant Executive Engineer, PWD; and Sibashish Rai, Junior Engineer, PWD, along with several party workers and well-wishers.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Dipayan Chakraborty said, “Together, we continue striving for better roads, better lives, and a better Silchar.”
