Udharbond: A day-long free medical camp was held on Sunday at the Durga Bari Community Hall in Shalganga, Udharbond, drawing an encouraging response from local residents. The camp was jointly organized by Shivsundari Nari Shikshashram, Silchar, and Jeevanjyoti Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital.
A total of 275 patients availed of free health consultations at the camp, which also included complimentary diagnostic tests conducted by Lupin Labs. In addition, essential medicines were distributed to the patients at no cost.
A team of noted physicians Dr. Rajdeep Roy, Dr. Subrata Nandi, Dr. Pinakpani Dhar, Dr. Sambuddha Dhar, Dr. Dhrubajyoti Nath, Dr. Priyanka Deb, Dr. Masoom, and Dr. J. Farhim offered medical services throughout the day. Premkiran Nath represented Jeevanjyoti Institute, while Angshu Kumar Roy, Pulak Das, and Manjul Deb attended the camp on behalf of Shivsundari Nari Shikshashram Hospital.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rajdeep Roy, an orthopaedic surgeon and secretary of Shivsundari Nari Shikshashram Hospital, highlighted the importance of reaching out to underserved areas. “Many people in remote regions struggle to access quality healthcare due to financial limitations. Our objective is to bridge that gap and bring medical services closer to them,” he said. “It’s deeply fulfilling to see smiles on the faces of those we serve.”
Dr. Roy also announced that similar camps would be organized in the future as part of an ongoing outreach initiative. The next free health camp will be held at Madhuraghat in Malugram on Sunday, August 17, starting at 10 AM.
