“He exposed his insecurity”

GUWAHATI : During a candid conversation with India Today journalist Preeti Choudhry on her exclusive podcast, Assam Congress MP, Gaurav Gogoi, opened up about his political journey, internal party dynamics, and took a sharp dig at Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Gogoi said he was actually thankful to Sarma for revealing what he called the BJP’s growing nervousness ahead of the 2026 Assam Assembly elections. “I actually have to thank the Chief Minister for his recent remarks. By trying to cast doubt over my future in Assam politics, he has only exposed his own insecurity and the BJP’s real intentions,” Gogoi said.
He claimed the BJP was attempting to stir uncertainty within the Congress ranks. “One of their intentions was clearly to sow seeds of doubt in my party. But I’m grateful to my leadership for backing me fully.”
Reflecting on broader political lessons, Gogoi added, “If there’s one thing I’ve learned from the Jharkhand elections, it’s that people are often smarter than politicians. They see through these tactics.”
With Assam headed to elections in less than a year, Gogoi’s comments mark a clear counter-offensive, projecting confidence while challenging the BJP’s political maneuvers.
