Silchar: Gurucharan University, Silchar, marked National Sports Day 2025 with a programme at the university conference hall on Friday. The Sports Board hosted the event, which drew senior officials, faculty, and students.
The programme opened at noon with a welcome by Dr. Jaydeep Paul, Dean of Student Welfare, who spoke on the role of sports and fitness in student life. Vice Chancellor Prof. Niranjan Roy urged students to move beyond rote learning and embrace skill- and concept-based education, linking it to the National Education Policy’s emphasis on the Fit India Movement and a culture of wellness in campuses.
Registrar Dr. Bidyut Kanti Paul, Academic Registrar Dr. Abhijit Nath, and Deputy Director of Sports Bijoy Brahma also attended.
A spot quiz for students, conducted by Dr. Saurav Das, added a lively touch to the celebration. Winners were awarded during a short prize distribution. Dr. Das later delivered the vote of thanks before the National Anthem brought the day’s programme to a close.
