Silchar : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Silchar on March 14, with the Cachar district administration stepping up elaborate preparations ahead of the high-profile tour.
On Tuesday, Assam Chief Secretary Dr. Ravi Kota, Director General of Police Harmeet Singh, Minister Kaushik Rai and Minister Krishnendu Paul conducted a joint inspection of the proposed venue for the Prime Minister’s public meeting.
The team reviewed arrangements relating to security deployment, traffic regulation and infrastructure preparedness in and around the Ramnagar Bypass area, where the rally is expected to be held.
A high-level review meeting was subsequently convened at the office of the Cachar District Commissioner. The meeting was attended by senior administrative and police officials, including the District Commissioner, Superintendent of Police and heads of key departments.
Discussions focused on security protocols, crowd management strategies, traffic diversion plans and inter-departmental coordination to ensure the smooth conduct of the Prime Minister’s programme.
Officials informed that the Prime Minister will address a major public gathering at Ramnagar Bypass. During the visit, he is also slated to lay the foundation stone for the proposed Guwahati-Barapani-Panchgram National Highway expressway project and the Silchar flyover, both of which are expected to significantly enhance connectivity in the Barak Valley region.
The administration has begun mobilising resources for venue preparation, installation of barricades, deployment of security personnel and streamlining of vehicular movement in the town. Special emphasis is being placed on multi-layered security arrangements in line with standard protocols for visits by the Prime Minister.
The announcement of the visit has generated considerable enthusiasm across Silchar and adjoining areas, with officials asserting that comprehensive measures are being put in place to ensure a seamless and secure programme.
