Silchar: In a bid to provide free legal support to the underprivileged sections of the Hindu community, a “Hindu Legal Aid Clinic” was inaugurated at Panchanan Shivbari in Malugram, Silchar, under the initiative of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP). The clinic will be managed by the Legal Cell of VHP’s Southeast Zone, Cachar District.

The inaugural ceremony held on Saturday witnessed the presence of several eminent personalities associated with the organization and the legal fraternity.

Among those present were Purnachandra Mandal, Head of VHP’s Dharma Prasar Department, Guwahati Region; Shantanu Naik, noted advocate and Head of the Legal Cell, Guwahati Region; Advocate Dilip Kumar Das, Coordinator of the Legal Cell, Southeast Zone; and Advocate Soumen Bhattacharjee, Joint Coordinator. Also present were prominent lawyers and social workers including Dharmananda Deb, Biru Ranjan Nath, Moumita Malakar, Baishali Bhawal, and Rimli Sheal.

Speaking at the event, the dignitaries emphasized that the legal aid clinic is not merely a support center but a crucial initiative aimed at ensuring access to justice for the marginalized members of the Hindu community. “This is not just a legal aid center; it is a step toward empowering every Hindu citizen to understand their rights and receive timely assistance when needed,” said one of the speakers.

The primary goal of the clinic is to extend free legal support to individuals who are victims of oppression, injustice, or displacement, particularly in matters related to land disputes, family and inheritance issues, and religious institutions. The clinic will function twice a month on the second and fourth Saturdays offering consultations and guidance to the public.

This initiative marks a significant stride by the Vishva Hindu Parishad toward social and legal empowerment at the grassroots level.
