Silchar: A major fire destroyed a house in Ward 8 of Ranginghat under the Sonaimukh Municipal area, leaving the structure in complete ruins.

The blaze broke out when the homeowner, Sams Uddin Laskar, and his family were away. He rushed back after neighbours alerted him. Local sources said the house had no electrical connection. Once the fire started, an LPG cylinder inside exploded and the flames intensified.

Police and fire service personnel reached the spot quickly, but the fire had already spread so fast that nothing could be saved. Laskar said he has lost property worth more than five lakh rupees. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
