Kohima/ Nagaland : The Red Shield Division of the Indian Army organised a Lecture cum Discussion on the theme of “Understanding Manipur : Historical Perspectives and Pathways to Peace” at Leimakhong Military Station in Manipur.
The event witnessed the presence of two eminent academicians – Prof. Dr. Shimreingam Shimray, Principal, Wung Theological College, Ukhrul, and Prof. Dr. Moirangthem Cha Arunkumar, Professor of Anthropology, Manipur University.

Prof. Shimray, a distinguished theologian and author, shared insights into the historical background of the Nagas, the rise of insurgency, and its enduring impact on Manipur. He highlighted the importance of dialogue, justice, and peace in resolving long-standing issues.
Prof. Arunkumar, an eminent anthropologist, offered a nuanced understanding of Manipur through the lens of culture, society, and history. His reflections on reconciliation, coexistence, and the role of communities provided fresh perspectives on the way forward.
Both the guest speakers offered alternative perspectives on the entire gamut of the interplay of various stakeholders in Manipur and invigorated the audience to think differently. The event reinforced the shared commitment towards dialogue, empathy, and harmony in Manipur. The Red Shield Division reaffirmed its resolve to work alongside these brilliant academic minds and civil society as well as the people for the peace and development of the state.
