Kohima/ Nagaland : As part of National Nutrition Week, the Indian Army organised a series of medical camps at Zalenphai village and Relief Camp in Churachandpur district, as well as at Wangoo Relief Camp in Bishnupur district, to promote health awareness and provide medical support to the local population.

At Zalenphai, villagers and relief camp residents were offered free medical check-ups, nutritional assessments, and counselling sessions.

Anthropometric measurements were recorded for adults, while children underwent screenings to identify cases of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM).

Parents were sensitized on proper child care and dietary practices, and an informative board on healthy eating habits was displayed for the benefit of the community.

In Wangoo, the Army doctors and paramedical staff conducted extensive consultations, distributed essential medicines, and organized awareness sessions on personal hygiene, maternal health, nutrition, childcare, and lifestyle diseases.

Special focus was given to women, children, and the elderly to ensure inclusive healthcare support. The initiative saw strong participation from locals, who expressed their appreciation for the Army’s dedication to reaching underserved areas.

Through these medical outreach programmes, the Indian Army continues to reaffirm its commitment towards community welfare and nation-building by strengthening the bond of trust with the people and laying the foundation of a healthier, stronger India.
