Silchar: The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Saturday observed Janmashtami alongside its 61st Foundation Day with a solemn religious gathering at its office in Govinda Bari, Ashram Road, Silchar.
Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty attended the programme, while Assam Minister Krishnendu Paul graced the occasion as chief guest and spoke on the spiritual and cultural significance of the day.
Addressing the gathering, Chakraborty, Purna Chandra Mondal, Kshetra Sangathan Mantri of the VHP, Shantanu Naik, district president, and Uday Shankar Goswami extended greetings and underlined the role of the Parishad in fostering unity, devotion, and service.
The event also witnessed the presence of Jyotsnamoy Chakraborty, Prant Sangh Chalak, along with other dignitaries and members of the organisation.
The celebration concluded with devotional songs and collective prayers, marking the twin significance of Lord Krishna’s birth anniversary and the foundation day of the VHP.
