Silchar: Minister for Barak Valley Development Kaushik Rai on December 9 laid the foundation stone for a new building at Dinesh Deb Public High School in Vidyartanpur under the Dholai constituency. The project, taken up under the RIDF scheme, carries an allocation of 7 crore 21 lakh rupees. Rai inaugurated the work by unveiling the plaque.

Rai used the event to underline what he sees as a clear shift in the pace of development in the Barak Valley under the current government. He said the Chief Minister’s focused attention on the region led to the creation of the Barak Valley Development Department and that this dedicated approach is now translating into visible projects on the ground.

Rai added that the new school building will help bring back a strong academic environment to the institution and raise the standard of education in the area.

Dholai MLA Nihar Ranjan Das, BJP Dholai-Narsingpur Mandal president Sanjoy Kairi, Dholai-Narsingpur Block Anchalik Panchayat president Nirmal Kanti Das, Zilla Parishad member Pompi Nath Choudhury, MP Parimal Suklabaidya’s representative Shashanka Chandra Paul, headmaster Pranab Sharma, school management committee president Prashanta Deb, Jamalpur GP president Pritish Chandra Das, Bhushan Paul, Bijay Rai, Jayanta Dutta, Anjushree Rai, Mallika Kairi, Krishna Jibon Debnath and several others attended the ceremony.
