Silchar: In preparation for the co-district-level observance of the death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, a meeting was held on Friday under the chairmanship of Co-District Commissioner, Lakhipur, Dhrubajyoti Pathak, ACS, at his office chamber in Silchar.

The meeting, attended by local artists and cultural representatives, discussed the arrangements for the upcoming tribute programme to be held on November 5, 2025, at the Laboc Tea Estate Playground.

As part of the event, 500 participants will come together in a collective rendition of Dr. Hazarika’s immortal song “Manush Manusher Jonno”, symbolizing unity, humanity, and harmony — values central to the legendary musician’s life and work.

Officials said the observance in Lakhipur will run parallel to the main district-level celebration in Silchar, reflecting the shared cultural reverence across Cachar district for Dr. Hazarika’s enduring legacy.
