Guwahati: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the death of singer Zubeen Garg has dismissed the post-mortem report circulating on social media as fake. Addressing the media on October 15, SIT Chief and Special DGP of CID, Munna Prasad Gupta, said, “That report is not genuine. It lacks any doctor’s signature and is therefore not authentic.”

Gupta informed that the police remand of the five accused in the case ends today and they will be produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court as scheduled. Of the 11 Assamese expatriates from Singapore linked to the case, nine have already recorded their statements. Gupta added that if the tenth expatriate arrives today, his statement will also be taken.

He further stated that accused Shekharjyoti Goswami and Amritprabha Mahanta will be produced before the court on October 17. Meanwhile, a team of medical experts visited the CID office in Guwahati to examine the five accused — including Shyamkanu Mahanta and Siddharth Sharma — under strict supervision.

Two expatriates, Sushmita Goswami and Debojit Hazarika, also appeared at the CID office today for official proceedings. According to sources, all five accused are expected to be produced before the CJM Court around 9 a.m., after which they are likely to be sent to judicial custody.

The investigation remains under close watch as the SIT continues to coordinate witness statements, medical examinations, and court proceedings.
