Silchar: Assam is mourning the loss of one of its most iconic cultural figures as legendary singer Zubeen Garg passed away on Friday (September 19) in Singapore. Widely regarded as the voice of a generation, Garg’s music transcended boundaries and earned him admiration across the Northeast and beyond. His untimely demise has cast a pall of grief over fans, admirers, and the artistic community.

The news of his passing spread quickly, prompting an outpouring of tributes on social media and in public spaces. In the wake of this irreparable loss, the BJP Cachar district unit has decided to suspend all party activities as a mark of respect. District president Rupam Saha announced that the citizens’ meet, which was scheduled to take place on Friday, has been called off. He further confirmed that the marathon competition planned for September 20 will also be postponed.

The entire district is in mourning. The party has assured that new dates for the postponed programmes will be shared at a later time.
