Silchar: In a touching gesture of compassion and community service, the Lions Club of Silchar Galaxy held an animal welfare programme at the Silchar Gaushala on Kathal Road as part of the “One District One Activity” initiative.

Held under the theme “Gau Sewa” (Service to Cows), the event focused on feeding and caring for around 200 cows, as well as 15 rabbits. Members donated nutritious vegetables like carrots and beetroot for the animals.

“Cows are revered as divine beings in our culture, and serving them is akin to serving God,” said Diksha Paul Banik, Secretary of the Lions Club of Silchar Galaxy. “Cow milk is like ‘Amrit Tatva’ (nectar), and such opportunities to serve are spiritually fulfilling.”

The event also underscored the club’s inclusive approach to animal welfare by extending support to rabbits, described as “gentle creations of God.”

Six members actively participated in the drive. Special appreciation was extended to Moutushi Chakraborty for her support, young volunteer Anirban Chakraborty (17), and Joydeep Choudhury and Deboshree Choudhury from the Lions Club of Silchar Elite for their encouragement.
