Members of Lions Club of Silchar Valley View visited the homes of ten senior citizens in different areas to personally felicitate them with uttorios and sweets

Silchar: The Lions Club of Silchar Valley View celebrated Senior Citizens Day on Thursday with a series of programs held in different parts of Cachar district to honour the elderly for their invaluable contribution to society.
Two central programmes were organised—one at the Borkhola GP office and another at Frenchnagar in the Dholai constituency. At Borkhola, 15 pre-selected senior citizens were felicitated with uttorios and packets of sweets.
The programme began with an address by Club member Sibu Das, who highlighted the significance of the day. Borkhola GP President, Nihar Ranjan Das, thanked the Lions Club for the initiative, while Guiding Lion of the Club, Sanjeev Roy, described the senior citizens as “torch bearers of the society.” Dignitaries including Ananta Malakar, Rajendra Sharma Majumder, and Ahad Barbhuiya were also present.
A similar event was organised at Anumati LP School, Frenchnagar, South Dholai, where around 50 senior citizens were honoured with shawls and sweets. Club Secretary Anup Roy, who led the programme, remarked that the felicitation of senior citizens was a matter of pride for the club and reaffirmed its commitment to serving humanity.
