94 were detected with eye problems and will receive free treatment at Choudhury Eye Hospital

Silchar: The Lions Club of Silchar Valley View, in association with Choudhury Eye Hospital and Prabhavati Debi Charitable Trust, organised two eye care programmes at Maharishi Vidyamandir, Silchar, on Monday.
The day began with an Eye Donation Awareness Programme conducted by noted ophthalmologist Dr. Hemanti Choudhury, who spoke to students and teachers on the importance of pledging eyes for donation.
School principal Shamita Dutta praised the effort, calling it vital to sensitise young people on the cause.
This was followed by a Vision Check-Up Camp for students of Classes 5, 6 and 7. A total of 244 students were screened by Dr. Choudhury, Dr. Ashiq Moin and optometrist Isha Majumder. Of them, 94 were detected with eye problems and will receive free treatment at Choudhury Eye Hospital.
Representatives of the school and the Lions Club jointly coordinated the event, while the Prabhavati Debi Charitable Trust extended support. Guiding Lion Sanjeev Roy thanked the school authorities for their cooperation.
Club project chairperson Minara Laskar expressed gratitude to the trust for partnering in the initiative, adding that the mission of “proper vision” for every child would continue.
