Silchar: In a heartwarming initiative to promote police-public goodwill, the Lions Club of Silchar Valley View celebrated Friendship Day on Sunday with the police personnel of Silchar Sadar Thana.

Led by Club President Bandita Trivedi Roy, members of the club visited the police station to mark the occasion. As a gesture of respect and solidarity, friendship bands were tied on the wrists of both male and female officers, followed by the distribution of sweets that added a festive cheer to the morning.

Speaking on the essence of the occasion, President Bandita Trivedi Roy and Project Chairperson Mrinmoy Roy stated that the celebration aimed to underline the message that “a friend in need is a friend indeed.” They added that genuine bonds of friendship contribute positively to the social fabric and play a vital role in community building.

Officer-in-Charge Amrit Singh appreciated the gesture and thanked the club for their thoughtful outreach. He noted that such interactions help foster a sense of mutual trust and cooperation, which are essential in the fight against social evils.

Police personnel present during the programme included Seikh Sahidul Islam, Gopal Talukdar, Pranabjyoti Choudhury, Anahay Basumotary, among others. Lions Club Valley View members Sanjeev Roy, Minara Laskar, Pushpabati Roy, and Prasanta Bhattacharjee also attended the event.
