Silchar : At around 11 AM Wednesday, a major accident occurred in Ranighat-Krishnapur on the Silchar-Kalain Road. A passenger-laden Tata Sumo collided with a gas-cylinder-loaded truck that braked suddenly to avoid hitting a goat.

Four passengers in the Sumo were seriously injured and taken to Silchar Medical College. Locals allege that no ambulance arrived even after calling 108 for over an hour. Traffic on the road was halted for two hours until police from the Arunachal outpost cleared the scene.
