Silchar: In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown on narcotics, Cachar Police carried out a successful anti-drug operation in the Saptagram area under Dholai Police Station on Sunday.

Acting on credible intelligence inputs, the police team seized 1.22 kilograms of heroin, estimated to be worth approximately Rs 6.22 crore in the international market. Two individuals alleged to be involved in drug trafficking were arrested during the operation.

This major seizure marks another milestone in Assam Police’s relentless campaign against illegal drugs. Authorities have lauded the swift and coordinated efforts of the district police team. Cachar SP and other senior officials reiterated the department’s zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics and assured that such operations will continue with increased intensity.

The arrested individuals are currently in custody, and further investigations are underway to trace the larger network linked to this smuggling attempt.
