Silchar : Grave allegations have emerged against a man from Churaibari in Tripura, accused of deceiving women into the flesh trade under the guise of marriage. The complaint has been made by Hajira Begum Laskar, a resident of Kanakpur Part III in Joypur, Cachar, who claims to be the second wife of the accused, Sabul Mia.

According to Hajira, her acquaintance with Sabul began three years ago through Facebook. A resident of Khadim Para under the jurisdiction of Churaibari Police Station, Sabul allegedly lured her into a false relationship and later married her through traditional rituals. However, Hajira now asserts that the marriage was merely a smokescreen, intended to push her into sex work—a grim truth she discovered a year into their marriage.

She further alleged that Sabul subjected her to repeated physical and mental torture, pressuring her to join the illicit trade. In desperation, she fled to her parental home in Joypur on three separate occasions. However, Hajira claims that Sabul used social media to circulate false narratives about her and issued threats, coercing her into returning and continuing the forced exploitation.

Hajira also accused Sabul of severing her contact with her son from a previous marriage. Despite reaching out to both the Churaibari and Cachar police stations multiple times, she lamented that no substantial action has been taken against him so far.

In a disturbing additional claim, she alleged that around three months ago, Sabul attempted to force two tribal girls who worked at his roadside eatery ‘Sundarban’ located along National Highway 8 in Kadamtala into the same illegal trade. Fortunately, timely intervention by their families reportedly thwarted the attempt.

Now residing in Silchar and working as a domestic help to sustain herself, Hajira says she continues to face online harassment from Sabul, who, she alleges, is defaming her by spreading misinformation and branding her a sex worker.

She further revealed that Sabul had previously married four other women, suggesting a possible pattern of repeated exploitation. Through the media, Hajira Begum has made a passionate appeal to the Tripura Police and the Cachar district administration to arrest Sabul Mia and ensure strict legal action against him for his alleged involvement in human trafficking and abuse.
