Silchar: The Lions Club of Silchar Valley, in collaboration with Youths Against Social Evils (YASE) Dholai Assembly Committee, organised a free Mega Health Care and Health Check-up Camp, along with a “Free Cataract Detection and Eye Check-up” initiative, at East Gojalghat Primary School, Jibongram, under the Dholai constituency. Prabhabati Devi Charitable Trust partnered in the eye care segment of the camp.

The camp drew around 500 beneficiaries who availed free medical consultations across multiple specialities. General medicine and child care were handled by Dr. Keshab Patikar, dental cases by Dr. Deboshubro Kundu, general ailments by Dr. Kishore Acharjee, Ayurvedic and diabetes care by Dr. Kaushik Choudhury, and eye care by Dr. Ashutosh Upadhyay and optometrist Rakesh Tripura. Free medicines, sponsored by club secretary Dr. Anup Roy, were distributed to all patients.

Among 101 people examined for eye issues, 29 were diagnosed with cataract and will undergo free surgeries at Choudhury Eye Hospital, under the supervision of hospital in-charge Priom Choudhury, within the next week in phased operations.

Namashudra Parishad extended organisational support, represented by Loknath Debroy, Dilip Roy, Sujit Roy and others, while YASE was represented by Jyotindra Roy, Jolly Roy, Joytosh Roy, Dinesh Roy and Pinali Roy.

Lions Club guiding member Sanjeev Roy and secretary Dr. Anup Roy expressed gratitude to all partner organisations and the residents of Jibongram for their cooperation. Members Samsul Islam, Sahin Laskar and Sandip Shill were also present on behalf of the Lions Club of Silchar Valley View.
