Silchar: The Barak Valley Sports Journalists Association on Sunday organised a memorial discussion to remember the life and work of late sports journalist Sanjay Roy.

The meeting was held at the premises of the Silchar District Sports Association, where colleagues, friends, and members of the local sports fraternity gathered to pay their respects.

Speaking at the event, Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty fondly recalled Roy’s deep involvement in sports reporting and his lasting contribution to the field. Silchar DSA Assistant General Secretary Arijit Gupta also shared memories of Roy’s dedication and commitment to covering sports across the Barak Valley.

Senior journalists including Uttam Kumar Saha, Debashish Purkayastha, Abhijit Bhattacharjee, Debashish Shome, Ratan Deb, and Sanjib Singh spoke on different phases of Roy’s professional journey. Silchar DSA President Shibabrata Dutta also addressed the gathering.

Speakers reflected on Roy’s role in promoting local sports and nurturing young talent through his reporting over the years. The meeting concluded with a collective prayer for the eternal peace of his departed soul.
