Silchar: Assam’s Minister for Industries, Commerce, Public Enterprises and Cultural Affairs, Bimal Borah, chaired a high-level review meeting in Silchar on Sunday evening to assess the progress of major development projects in Cachar district.

Held at the office of the Deputy Commissioner, the meeting brought together legislators, senior officials, and heads of departments to review key government initiatives and evaluate the district’s implementation of state-led programmes.

Commending the district administration for its proactive approach, Minister Borah said Cachar had played a crucial role in advancing the government’s broader development agenda. “The administration’s commitment and efficiency reflect the spirit of the Government’s growth mission,” he said.

He highlighted the tangible outcomes of the MoUs signed during Advantage Assam 2.0, noting that they were not mere formalities but being translated into real projects on the ground. The Minister cited the foundation stone laying of the Medanta Super-Speciality Hospital, the Cocoon Mother and Childcare Hospital, and the Lemon Tree Premier Five-Star Hotel as examples of Assam’s expanding footprint in healthcare and hospitality.

“The transformation we are witnessing is part of a larger story—one of opportunity, confidence, and renewed belief in Assam’s potential,” Borah said. He also pointed to PepsiCo’s Rs 700-crore investment in Nalbari as evidence of growing investor trust and praised recent policy reforms for improving the ease of doing business and attracting foreign direct investment.

On the cultural front, the Minister said Assam is undergoing a renaissance through events like the Mega Bihu and Jhumoir Binandini festivals. He praised the role of artists, cultural groups, and local administrations for turning these celebrations into “symbols of unity and pride” that reflect the state’s collective identity.

Borah urged officials to uphold the spirit of service and ensure that government policies deliver real impact at the grassroots. “Development gains meaning only when it touches lives,” he said, stressing the need to bridge the last-mile gap in governance.

The Minister extended appreciation to Cachar Deputy Commissioner Mridul Yadav and the entire district team for their sincerity and teamwork in advancing the government’s development mission.

The meeting was attended by Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty, Udharbond MLA Mihir Kanti Shome, Katigorah MLA Khalil Uddin Majumder, District Development Commissioner Norsing Bey, Additional District Commissioner Dr. Khaleda Sultana Ahmed, Assistant Commissioners Bonnykha Chetia, Anjali Kumari, Neihat Haolai, Parveen Mahato, and other senior officials.
