Silchar: In a commendable gesture towards the promotion of sports and athlete welfare, Assam’s Minister Kaushik Rai donated Rs 3 lakh to the Players’ Welfare Fund of Itkhola Athletic Club, one of Silchar’s premier sporting institutions, on Wednesday.

The announcement was made by the Minister himself on April 30, when he attended the felicitation ceremony organised by the club to celebrate their recent victory in the Assam Premier Club Championship. Rai was present as the Chief Guest and lauded the team for their exceptional performance.

Noted sports personality Bijendra Prasad Singh shared the news and expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the club. “The Minister’s generous support is not only a recognition of our efforts but also a source of great encouragement. It will inspire us to continue working for the betterment of sports and athletes in the region,” he said.
