Silchar: Assam’s Minister for Home (Prison, Home Guard & Civil Defence), Labour Welfare, and Tea Tribes & Adivasi Welfare, Rupesh Gowala, paid an official visit to the Silchar District Central Jail on Tuesday to review the overall condition and management of the facility.
During his inspection, the minister examined the prison’s infrastructure, healthcare provisions, and living conditions of the inmates. He interacted directly with several prisoners to assess their well-being and hear their concerns regarding food, medical support, and daily necessities.
Minister Gowala also inspected the quality of meals served, the canteen operations, and accommodation standards, emphasizing the need to maintain hygiene and humane living conditions within the jail premises.
In a meeting with jail authorities, he reviewed administrative and staffing issues, urging officials to address operational challenges efficiently and ensure proper coordination between departments.
The visit was accompanied by Cachar District Commissioner Mridul Yadav (IAS), Superintendent of Police Partha Protim Das (IPS), and other senior district officials.
The minister’s inspection aimed to strengthen prison administration and reinforce the government’s commitment to improving correctional facilities across the state.
