Silchar: Mission Healthy Bharat – Sampoorna Bharat Yatra, the pan-India initiative led by renowned social reformer and youth icon Tapsi Upadhyay, made a resounding impact during its visit to Silchar on Saturday. The mission, focused on promoting health, sustainability, and compassion-based living, drew enthusiastic participation from students, civic leaders, and educators alike.
Traversing more than 40,000 kilometers across 28 states and 8 union territories, the Mission’s outreach in Silchar was supported by World Vegan Vision (WVV), a key partner in spreading awareness about plant-based and non-violent living.
Upadhyay and her team were formally welcomed by local dignitaries, including Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty, Minister Kaushik Rai, and BJP Cachar District President Rupam Saha. The leaders praised the mission for its inclusive approach to health, environmental education, and youth engagement.
Awareness sessions were conducted in seven educational institutions across Silchar, with a major programme held at Holy Cross Higher Secondary School. The discussions highlighted the benefits of clean living, animal compassion, and vegan diets. Teachers and students actively participated, many pledging to advocate for the mission’s values in their communities.
Educators lauded the initiative’s alignment with moral and civic responsibility. “This is a much-needed intervention in today’s chaotic world,” said one faculty member.
Reflecting on the event, Tapsi Upadhyay remarked, “The love and encouragement we received in Silchar – from leaders, institutions, and citizens – reaffirms our belief that compassion-driven change is not only possible but already underway.”
The Mission now moves on to Tripura, continuing its impactful journey across the country.
