Silchar: Mission Healthy Bharat Sampoorna Bharat Yatra, the nationwide campaign led by youth icon and social reformer Tapsi Upadhyay, made a resounding impact during its Silchar leg on Saturday. The missionfocused on health awareness, environmental sustainability, and compassion-driven living garnered enthusiastic support from political leaders, educational institutions, and the wider public.
This inspiring initiative, which spans over 40,000 kilometers across 28 states and 8 union territories, marked another important chapter in its journey with a vibrant stop in Assam’s Barak Valley. The mission’s efforts are strongly backed by World Vegan Vision (WVV), a key partner promoting plant-based diets and non-violence.
Honoured by Regional Leaders
During the Silchar visit, Upadhyay and her team were formally felicitated by prominent leaders of the region:
- Dipayan Chakraborty, MLA, Silchar
- Kaushik Rai, Cabinet Minister, Govt. of Assam & MLA, Lakhipur
- Rupam Saha, President, BJP Cachar District
The dignitaries praised Mission Healthy Bharat for its integrated approach to health education, animal welfare, environmental stewardship, and youth engagement, and described Upadhyay as a role model for the younger generation.
School Outreach in Silchar
As part of its educational outreach, the Mission team conducted awareness programs in seven schools, including a key event at Holy Cross Higher Secondary School. Through engaging sessions, students and teachers explored topics such as:
- Clean and healthy living
- Empathy toward animals
- Advantages of a vegan lifestyle
The response was deeply encouraging, with students taking pledges to embrace the mission’s core values and promote them within their communities. Educators praised the initiative, calling it a timely and necessary intervention that aligns with both moral education and civic responsibility.

World Vegan Vision, the campaign’s chief partner for this leg of the journey, played a vital role in amplifying its message. Speaking at the event, Upadhyay said:

Heading Next to Tripura
With Silchar offering a robust platform of support, Mission Healthy Bharat now moves on to Tripura, where a series of community programs and school engagements are scheduled.
