Lakhipur: In a significant political development, Mukesh Pandey and Thaiba Singh of the Congress party formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday.Both leaders had earlier contested from the Lakhipur Assembly constituency in the 2021 elections.

Placing their faith in the “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressing admiration for the development-driven leadership of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the duo decided to leave the Congress and align themselves with the BJP’s ideology.

They joined the party in the presence of Assam BJP State President Dilip Saikia and National Secretary Kamakhya Prasad Tasa.

Minister Kaushik Rai welcomed the leaders into the party fold and extended his congratulations, expressing hope that their inclusion would further strengthen the organisation in the Lakhipur constituency.
