Diphu : A mysterious death in Nabaibil village under West Karbi Anglong district has shocked the local community, as 24 days have passed without any breakthrough or arrest.

The incident, which occurred on May 25, 2025, involves the untimely and suspicious demise of 22-year-old Sanjay Chauhan.

According to the family, Sanjay had returned from work on the day of the incident, shared light-hearted moments with his family, had dinner, and later spoke with his wife over the phone at around 9 PM. His wife was at her maternal home in Hojai at the time. Sanjay then went to sleep in his room, which he shared with other family members.

Tragedy struck the next morning when his sister-in-law attempted to wake him, only to discover his lifeless body hanging from a rope inside his room. The sudden and shocking nature of his death has left the entire household and village in deep confusion and sorrow.

What is particularly disturbing is the absence of any warning signs or emotional distress prior to his death. The family and villagers are now questioning how a cheerful young man, who was seen in good spirits the night before, could end up dead in such a manner.

Adding to the complexity of the case, Sanjay’s family had recently been involved in a land dispute with neighboring individuals. Based on this, they filed a complaint at the Mailoo Police Outpost against six people—Yugeshwar Chauhan, Adeshwar Chauhan, Surendra Chauhan, Dhara Chauhan, Shyambihari Chauhan, and Phuleshwar Chauhan—alleging possible foul play.

Shockingly, the family claims that despite submitting a formal complaint, no FIR has been registered, and no investigation or arrests have been initiated by the local police even after more than three weeks.

Now, Sanjay’s grieving grandfather, mother, and wife are desperately awaiting justice and demanding answers. The mysterious circumstances and apparent police inaction have raised serious concerns about the handling of the case.

As public pressure builds and questions mount, all eyes are on the police to uncover the truth behind Sanjay Chauhan’s tragic death and bring the culprits, if any, to justice.
