Kohima: Preparations are underway in Chümoukedima as Nagaland gears up to host the Dr. T. Ao Junior Girls National Football Championship 2025–26, scheduled to begin on November 18.

The Department of Youth Resources and Sports (YRS) held a preparatory meeting on Monday at the DC’s Conference Hall in Chümoukedima to review arrangements for the tournament. The meeting was chaired by YRS Director, Kethosituo Sekhose, and attended by convenors and co-convenors of the Organizing and Functional Area Committees.

Officials discussed key aspects such as accommodation, security, reception, logistics, and technical arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the national event.

Deputy Commissioner of Chümoukedima, Polan John, described hosting the championship as both a privilege and a challenge, calling for coordinated efforts among all stakeholders to make the event a success. The SDO (Civil), Chumbenthung Murry, has been appointed as the Nodal Officer representing the District Administration.

The championship will take place at the Chümoukedima Football Stadium from November 18 to December 11, featuring 16 teams from across the country.

Representatives from the Nagaland Football Association, District Administration, DPRO Dimapur, and officials from the Youth Resources and Sports Department also attended the meeting.

The Dr. T. Ao Junior Girls National Football Championship remains one of Nagaland’s most significant national sporting events, celebrating the legacy of Dr. T. Ao, the legendary footballer and first captain of independent India’s national football team.
