The NEIR team had a warm and meaningful interaction with noted woman entrepreneur Bhagyawati Bhuyan at the Women Development Centre, Moridirgha, North Lakhimpur. The meeting highlighted the growing strength of women entrepreneurship in the Northeast.

NEIR advisor Prof Dr. Sukamal Deb interacted at length with Bhuyan, who received the team with traditional Bihu pithas, setting a warm and cultural tone for the visit. On behalf of the NEIR team, she was encouraged for her inspiring work and long journey as an entrepreneur. Similar words of encouragement were shared by the managing trustee and CEO of the KRC Foundation, Biswadeep Gupta.

During the interaction, strong emphasis was laid on the importance of women-led enterprises and their role in economic growth and social change.

Bhuyan showcased her handmade products and explained how her initiative has grown over the years. She currently provides employment to around 1,100 women, mostly from rural and marginal backgrounds.

On behalf of the NEIR team, advocate Kh. Gajendra Singh, Biswadeep Gupta, and Prof. Deb were also honoured during the programme. Gupta felicitated Bhuyan and discussed mutual ideas for collaboration. He shared inputs on how her products could be better marketed across different parts of the Northeast region.

The meeting remained lively and fruitful, marked by open discussion, exchange of ideas, and shared commitment towards empowering women through entrepreneurship.
