North East Integration Rally
MOIRANG : Moirang will mark the 129th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose with a major cultural programme on January 23, as the North East Integration Rally 2026 joins the Parakram Diwas observance at the historic I.N.A. Auditorium.
The programme is being organised by the North East Zonal Cultural Centre under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, with the I.N.A. War Museum cum Library, Moirang, serving as co-organiser. The event brings together institutions and initiatives closely linked to Netaji’s legacy, with NEIR 2026 participating as a supporting partner.
A 10-vehicle convoy of the NE Integration Rally will arrive in Moirang from Imphal to take part in the programme, symbolising Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s enduring connection with the region and the ideals of national unity. Col. Shanti Singh (Retd.), member of the NEIR organising committee, will represent the rally and address the gathering.
The event is scheduled to begin at 9 am and will feature floral tributes to Netaji, followed by addresses from invited dignitaries. The Chief Guest is expected to be the Hon’ble Governor of Manipur and Nagaland and Chairman of NEZCC, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, IAS (Retd.), with consent awaited.
The programme will be presided over by Moirang MLA Thongam Shanti Singh, Chairman of the I.N.A. Martyrs’ Memorial Complex. Senior officials from the Manipur Art and Culture Department will also attend.
A series of cultural performances depicting the life, ideals, and patriotism of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose will form the core of the programme. These include traditional Pung, Thang-ta martial art, and Jagoi dance performances by local cultural groups from Moirang.
Organisers said the participation of NEIR 2026 adds a wider regional dimension to the Parakram Diwas observance, linking Moirang’s historic role in India’s freedom struggle with a contemporary movement aimed at integration and collective remembrance. Students, academicians, cultural practitioners, and media representatives are expected to attend the programme, which will conclude with an interaction session.
