Silchar: Work is progressing at a brisk pace for the reinstallation of a full-sized statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at Rangirkhari in Silchar. The initiative is being led by the Netaji Statue Reconstruction and Installation Committee as a mark of deep respect to Netaji’s extraordinary role in India’s struggle for independence.
Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty, who is convening the committee, announced that Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has graciously agreed to unveil the statue on August 24, 2025. In preparation for the grand unveiling, the committee has scheduled a preparatory meeting on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 5:30 PM at Ashirbad Marriage Hall, located beside the District Sports Association (DSA) complex.
Appealing to the public, MLA Chakraborty said, “We are seeking everyone’s support and cooperation to make this a proud and memorable occasion for Silchar. The statue of Netaji will stand as a lasting tribute to his fearless leadership and patriotic spirit.”
Committee co-convenor Uttam Kumar Saha also encouraged community members and organisations to participate wholeheartedly in the efforts to honour one of India’s most revered national heroes.
