New Association Formed for Local Development

Katigorah: In a significant step towards local development and employment generation, residents of Hilara Colony in Katigorah have come together to form a new association the Burunga Cement Industrial Land Owners’ Association. The initiative was taken on Sunday to ensure the rights and welfare of the people who gave up their land for the establishment of the Star Cement Industry in the region.

The primary objectives of the association include providing employment opportunities to local unemployed youth, ensuring that locals receive first priority in job placements, and working actively for infrastructure development, including better roads and drinking water facilities. Additionally, the association aims to stay vigilant regarding pollution control and environmental impact caused by industrial activity.

Several dignitaries addressed the gathering during the launch event, including social activist Faruk Ahmed, former Kalain Block Panchayat member Jamila Begum, former teacher Tampasena Sinha, and Dharnikantha Sinha, Panchayat representative of Bhuvaneshwarnagar GP, among others.

The association was formally constituted under the name Burunga Cement Industrial Land Owners’ Association, with the following members elected to key positions:

  • President: Subal Sinha
  • Secretary: Sudhanshu Sarkar
  • Vice Presidents: Mrinal Singha and Sudarshan Deb
  • Joint Secretaries: Asadul Haque and Rajendra Sinha
  • Working President: Kishore Sinha
  • Treasurer: Samarjit Singha

A 21-member executive committee has also been formed to oversee the association’s activities and ensure consistent engagement with both the industry and the local population.
