Silchar: The Aryapatty Development Committee, also known as Aryan Warrior, held its fifth annual general meeting on Sunday in Silchar.
The meeting centered on the committee’s report and the civic challenges faced by residents of Aryapatty. Chief among them was the decades-old drinking water crisis. Members noted that despite repeated appeals to the Municipal Board and the PHE department, the 40-year-old pipelines have not been replaced. Temporary measures have offered short relief, but the underlying problem has only worsened.
The committee also raised concerns about poor drainage, broken roads, and faulty electric wiring. It resolved to launch public movements in the future if these long-standing issues remain ignored.
An 18-member executive body was elected at the meeting, with Supriya Bhattacharjee as president, Dayamay Barman as general secretary, and Dipak Nath as treasurer. Members also paid tribute to the late Buddhadeb Das (Nanu), former joint secretary of the committee. A minute’s silence was observed and a condolence resolution was passed in his memory.
