Silchar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that the construction of a new flyover in Silchar will help reduce the traffic problems faced by residents for a long time.

Addressing a public gathering, Modi said people of Silchar had been struggling with traffic congestion for several days and the upcoming flyover would bring much-needed relief.

He added that students of major educational institutions in the town would benefit significantly once the project is completed.

“People of Silchar were facing traffic problems for many days. The new flyover will ease this problem. Students of Silchar Medical College and Hospital, National Institute of Technology Silchar and Assam University will benefit largely,” the Prime Minister said.

According to officials, the flyover is expected to improve traffic movement in key parts of the town and reduce travel time for commuters, particularly students and daily travellers moving between educational institutions and the city centre.
