Katigora : Once again, nine Bangladeshi nationals have been detained by police in Katigora, Cachar district for illegal entry. The group, which includes two children, was apprehended on Sunday afternoon in the Hilara area of Katigorah.
Their suspicious behavior raised concerns among locals, who then alerted the police. Officers from Katigora Police Station took them into custody. While one auto-rickshaw managed to flee, police successfully seized another.
According to the detainees, they had been living in Surat for the past 5–6 years and fled following recent deportation drives by the Gujarat government. They had booked two auto-rickshaws and were headed towards Kalain when inconsistencies in their conversation aroused suspicion. Police detained them after finding discrepancies during interrogation.
Notably, just a day earlier, seven Bangladeshi Rohingya nationals were also detained from the same area. These recurring incidents have heightened concerns in the border region. Authorities have urged increased vigilance and have strengthened security measures.
