One-Day Workshop on “Strengthening University Culture” Held at Gurucharan University

Silchar : Gurucharan University on Saturday hosted a one-day workshop on “Strengthening University Culture” at its conference hall, an initiative of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The event brought together prominent academic voices from the region to deliberate on academic excellence, institutional development, and the integration of technology in higher education.

The workshop was held under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niranjan Roy. The inaugural session was graced by Prof. Rajive Mohan Pant, Vice-Chancellor of Assam University, who attended as the chief guest. Distinguished guests included Dr. Pradosh Kiran Nath, Registrar of Assam University, Deepak Mishra, IT Advisor, and Dr. Suprabir Dutta Roy, Controller of Examinations.

The programme began with a Saraswati Vandana by Dr. Paulomi Chakraborty, followed by a traditional welcome where dignitaries were felicitated with uttoriyos and mementos. Registrar Dr. Bidyut Kanti Pal delivered the welcome address.

Dr. Pradosh Kiran Nath, an alumnus of the university, lauded Gurucharan’s historic legacy and praised the institution’s efforts to foster academic growth. He emphasised that a university thrives on the collective responsibility of its stakeholders—teachers, students, parents, and the community.

Deepak Mishra underlined the evolving impact of artificial intelligence in education, referring to initiatives like “Operation Sindoor” as indicators of the changing landscape. He spoke of AI’s potential in shaping future careers and learning methods.

Chief guest Prof. Pant hailed Gurucharan University’s legacy in the Barak Valley and stressed the importance of value-based and application-driven learning models in line with the New Education Policy. He also appreciated the leadership of Prof. Dr. Niranjan Roy for his administrative acumen.

Dr. Suprabir Dutta Roy expressed pride in being an alumnus of the university and commended the positive transformation under the current leadership.

In his presidential address, Prof. Dr. Niranjan Roy shared insights from his NAAC experiences, underlining that every institution has unique strengths. He expressed confidence in Gurucharan University’s ability to make a mark globally through focused efforts.

Prof. Ranabijoy Das, Finance Officer, delivered the vote of thanks for the inaugural session, while the final vote of thanks for the workshop was presented by Dr. Abhijit Nath.
