Silchar: The Department of Political Science, Assam University, Silchar, organised an Orientation Class for the newly admitted first semester students on Tuesday, focusing on the vital theme of “Gender Sensitization.”

The session was conducted by Dr. Dristirupa Patgiri of the Department of Law, Assam University, who highlighted the importance of gender equality, inclusivity, and awareness in shaping a responsible academic and social environment.

Drawing from her expertise, Dr. Patgiri emphasized the need for sensitivity and collective responsibility in addressing gender-related issues within and beyond the classroom.

Faculty members of the department along with the fresh batch of students participated in the programme, which marked an engaging and thought-provoking start to the academic journey of the newcomers. The orientation aimed to not only introduce students to the ethos of the department but also to inspire them to build knowledge with a strong foundation of sensitivity and responsibility.
