Silchar: The state-level launch of Orunodoi 3.0 was held on Tuesday at Jyoti-Bishnu International Kala Mandir in Khanapara under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. The programme marked a major step by the Assam government to strengthen financial support for women and promote economic independence across the state.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the new phase of the flagship scheme would further empower women and contribute to the overall development of Assam. “Orunodoi 3.0 will strengthen the power of women and bring a new dawn of development for the state,” he said.

Alongside the state-level event, programmes were also organised across different constituencies. In the Silchar constituency, MLA Dipayan Chakraborty attended a gathering at the CD Home ground in Meherpur, where he interacted with beneficiaries from Wards 39, 40, 41 and 42. Around 3,300 beneficiaries were present at the programme, with many expressing happiness after receiving the government support for the first time.
Speaking at the event, Chakraborty said the scheme would significantly improve the living standards of women in the area. “This programme will improve the quality of life of local women and help make Silchar more prosperous,” he said.
Across the Silchar constituency, Orunodoi 3.0 programmes were organised at 13 different locations, benefiting a total of 28,668 women.
Beneficiaries present at the events said the scheme would be a major support for their families.
The Orunodoi scheme, launched earlier by the Assam government, has already benefited lakhs of women across the state. With the launch of the 3.0 version, the government has expanded its coverage and benefits, aiming to further reduce poverty and strengthen women’s empowerment in Assam.
