Silchar : In a significant boost to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Cachar, over a hundred individuals from diverse backgrounds formally joined the party during an induction programme held at the district BJP office in Itkhola, Silchar, on Friday.
The joining ceremony took place in the presence of Cachar district BJP president Rupam Saha, who welcomed the new members by offering them the traditional party uttariya. The group included a mix of men and women from various strata of society, marking what party officials described as a “promising step” towards expanding the party’s grassroots reach in the region.
Notably, the new entrants included the vice president of the Manipuri community, three retired Army personnel, and two school staff members. The induction took place under the leadership of BJP workers Arvind Das and Rahul Bhattacharjee, who played a key role in facilitating the process.
Party officials expressed optimism that the inclusion of such experienced and diverse individuals would further energise the organisation at the district level.
The programme was attended by several senior BJP leaders including Subrata Das, Pratap Sinha, Ujjal Bhattacharjee, Sajal Kanti Das, Ajit Bhattacharjee, and Bani Bhushan Sinha.
With the political landscape in Barak Valley gearing up for upcoming challenges, the BJP sees this mass joining as a timely morale booster and a reflection of the growing trust in its leadership.
