Silchar: Silchar MP Parimal Suklabaidya on Thursday inspected key sections of Silchar Railway Station and took stock of ongoing operational challenges faced by railway staff. His visit covered the Station Master and Chief Ticket Inspector office, the second class waiting room, the shunting yard, and the train operation room.

Suklabaidya spoke with personnel from the Commercial and Operating departments, who pointed to a range of issues including acute staff shortages, constraints within the shunting yard, and poor conditions in the Station Master and CTI offices.

He said their concerns would be taken up with senior authorities so that a safer and more efficient working environment can be ensured.

He noted that questions on infrastructure development at Silchar Railway Station have already been raised during the ongoing Winter Session of Parliament, and reaffirmed his commitment to improving facilities in the region.

Suklabaidya also interacted with passengers and frontline workers, acknowledging the round-the-clock effort they put into maintaining services. He said the matter of staffing gaps has been discussed with the Railway Minister and assured workers that steps to resolve the shortages will be followed up.
