Silchar : On the occasion of World Environment Day 2025 , Punjab National Bank’s Rural Self Employment Training Institute (PNB RSETI) in Cachar organized a colourful rally and an impactful awareness meeting that drew enthusiastic participation from trainees and community members alike.

The rally began from the PNB RSETI campus and marched through key points along the PWD Road and nearby areas of Silchar town, carrying banners and placards promoting eco-awareness. The vibrant procession aimed to spread the message of environmental protection and the importance of sustainable living practices.
Following the rally, an awareness session was held at the RSETI conference hall, attended by trainees and dignitaries. The chief guest of the event was S S Dev Roy Ex LDM , Cachar, alongside Jagajyoti Bhattacharjee, Director of PNB RSETI Cachar, and Training Assistant Jayamati Das and Rimpa Sen.Domain skill trainer Purnima Chanda
In his keynote address, Director Jagajyoti Bhattacharjee emphasized, “We must give greater importance to issues like tree plantation and reduction of plastic usage. Humans themselves must defeat the demon of plastic.
Even if we can’t completely eliminate plastic immediately, we must at least stop throwing plastic bottles in drains and public spaces. Everyone should take the initiative to plant trees.On this occasion, trainees also took a collective pledge to protect the environment, as part of RSETI’s broader commitment to sustainable development.
In a press statement, Shahed Chowdhury, Senior Faculty and Course Coordinator of PNB RSETI Cachar, stressed, “We must not only plant trees but also ensure their continued care. Environmental protection should be part of our daily responsibility.
