Agartala: Amid rising political speculation ahead of the TTAADC elections, Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma has clarified that no alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party has been finalised, calling such reports premature.
The clarification comes after party MLA Ranjit Debbarma hinted at a possible tie-up and confirmed that discussions were ongoing with senior BJP leaders, including B. L. Santosh and Sambit Patra.
However, Pradyot stressed that no formal decision has been taken so far, underlining that any alliance would be carefully considered keeping in mind the party’s core interests.
Positioning the Tipra Motha as a dominant force in indigenous areas, he reiterated the party’s focus on protecting its political base, built through sustained grassroots mobilisation.
He also expressed concern over what he termed as “unfortunate” personal remarks surfacing during the course of alliance discussions, indicating unease within sections of the party.
The development points to internal differences and strategic uncertainty within Tipra Motha, even as backchannel talks with the BJP continue ahead of the crucial TTAADC elections.
