Silchar: The Art Habitat Institute of Art and Craft distributed prizes to winners of its Independence Day drawing competition at a ceremony held Friday evening in Silchar’s Rangirkhari, on the occasion of Teachers’ Day.
The competition, organized on August 15 at Sai Bikash Vidyaniketan, Silchar, had drawn nearly 200 participants from across the region, ranging from nursery to higher school students.
The ceremony opened with the lighting of a lamp and floral tributes to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Trophies, medals, and certificates were handed over to winners across four groups by judges and noted artists Dr. Rajkumar M., Jaydeep Bhattacharjee, Sandipan Dutta Purkayastha, P. Arivukkarsu, and Dr. Pinak Pani Nath.
Speaking on the occasion, Jaydeep Bhattacharjee said such competitions are vital to encourage young artists and strengthen the place of visual art in society. The programme was conducted by artist and trainer Uttam Ghosh.
