Diphu :  Punam Chauhan, daughter of Jaiprakash Chauhan and Smt. Rina Devi, hailing from the remote village of Kalamsing Tisso Gaon under Bakuliaghat Police Station in Karbi Anglong district, has achieved a remarkable feat by securing the seventh rank in Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharma) examination – 2025.

This milestone marks a historic moment for the Chauhan (Nonia) community, as Punam becomes the first girl from her community to excel in this field.

Punam, a student of the Regional College of Paramedical Health Sciences (RCPHS), Guwahati, completed her four-year undergraduate program (FYUP) in B. Pharma, a course focused on the study of drugs, their development, and their effects on the human body.

Regional College of Paramedical Health Sciences is affiliated with Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences (SSUHS). Her outstanding performance in the 8th semester (final) examination of 2025 has brought immense pride to her family and community.

Reflecting on her achievement, Punam said, “This journey was challenging, but my parents’ support and my determination kept me going. I hope my success inspires other girls from remote areas to pursue their dreams in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.”

Punam’s academic path began at Saraswati Vidya Niketan, Losekjan, Bakulia, where she completed her high schooling in 2017 with an impressive 70%. She then pursued her higher secondary education at Maryam Ajmal Women’s College of Science and Technology, under the Ajmal Foundation in Hojai, securing 68% in 2019.

Her consistent dedication and hard work paved the way for her admission to the prestigious B. Pharma programme.

As the first girl from the Chauhan (Nonia) community to achieve such a distinction in this sector, Punam Chauhan’s story is one of inspiration, breaking barriers, and setting a new benchmark for aspiring students across Assam.
