Silchar: Residents of Ward No. 20, Girish Road in Tarapur urged the Silchar Municipal Corporation to immediately repair the damaged road and finish the stalled pipeline work under the Urban Water Supply Scheme.
In a memorandum submitted to the Municipal Commissioner on Tuesday, a delegation led by Rabindra Chandra Das said the pipeline project, launched nearly five months ago, was abandoned midway after the contractor dug up the road and left the fittings incomplete.
Locals complained that the situation has caused severe inconvenience. With the narrow stretch already difficult for traffic, only small vehicles like autos, e-rickshaws, and rickshaws can pass, and even they struggle on the damaged surface. Residents voiced particular concern for patients and schoolchildren who must use the road daily despite the risks.
The memorandum urged the authorities to complete the work and restore the road before the upcoming Durga Puja festival.
