Agartala: In a move to support the fight against tuberculosis, the Rotary Club of Agartala, in collaboration with the National Health Mission (NHM), Government of Tripura, and CSR partners NEEPCO and NTPC, has launched a Food Basket Distribution Program for TB patients. The initiative is part of the Pradhan Mantri T.B. Mukt Bharat – Nikshay Mitra Campaign.
The program aims to provide sustained nutritional support to 200 TB patients over six months, helping ensure continuity in treatment and promoting recovery. Each food basket includes rice, dal, soyabean, eggs, and cooking oil—staples critical for proper nutrition during TB treatment.

The initiative is being implemented on the ground by the Rotary Club of Agartala, with NHM acting as the coordinating partner. CSR support from NEEPCO and NTPC has made the program possible.
The first phase of the distribution began on 25th October at Sukanta Academy for Science, Arts and Culture, Agartala, with 100 TB patients receiving food baskets. The second phase will follow shortly, reaching the remaining beneficiaries.
The launch ceremony was attended by His Excellency Indrasena Reddy Nallu, Governor of Tripura, as Chief Guest. Other dignitaries included Gitte Kirankumar Dinkarrao, IAS, Secretary, Health Services, Tripura; Dr. Vishal Kumar, IAS, District Magistrate & Collector, West Tripura; Jeetendra Lal Das, HoPS, NEEPCO Ltd., Agartala; Dr. Nupur Debbarma, Member Secretary, NHM, Tripura; Prof. (Dr.) Tapan Majumdar, Director of Health Services, Tripura; and Rtn. Kisalaya Ghosh, President, Rotary Club of Agartala.
This collaborative initiative reinforces the shared mission of building a TB-free India while providing direct support to patients in need, combining government, corporate, and civil society efforts.
